The best salmon I have ever enjoyed was fixed in such an easy manner.  Place sliced raw onions in the bottom of a pan.  Place unseasoned salmon fillets on top of the onion slices.  Add chicken broth or bullion to cover the bottom of the pan. Place pan on stove top at medium heat and cover, or in the oven at 375 degrees.  Cook 10 minutes and check if the salmon is cooked through.  If not, cook a few minutes longer.

Serve with onions from beneath the salmon.
