After Work... - by David Myrna, Wine Enthusiast
After a long day at work, I find it so relaxing to sip on my favorite glass of 'red' before dinner. I've acquired a taste for
red wine ever since I heard it was 'heart healthy'. I prefer the fruity 'reds' like merlot, shiraz, or a good 'ole table red.
I'm just as happy with a variety that cost less than $10 as I am with an expensive one.
When I'm in the mood for a little bit of cheese before dinner, I usually reach for a tangy goat cheese that I keep handy in the fridge.
I find that goat cheese complements and enhances the flavor of the 'red' I'm drinking, and besides it's much easier on the digestive
system than cow's milk. What can I say... I'm a health conscience guy :).
What about you? What's your favorite wine, and when and where do you most enjoy indulging?
What are your favorite wine/food combo's? I look forward to hearing from you.
Cheers,
David
2007.07.12 - BETH0603 I like Beringer White Zinfandel. Its cheap and available everywhere!
2007.04.06 - Deborah10 My husband and I were in Argentina, Cordoba, specifically, and visited a winery where we tasted "Borgonia" and I have been trying to find it here in the U.S. without success. Any suggestions?
2007.04.03 - recipe freak Great recommendations on the reds! I have a recipe for stuffed sea bass; should I do white or red?
2007.03.30 - colleen Purple Moon Merlot, Shiraz or chardonnay for just 3.99 per 750ml bottle. this is just an execellent deal for wines like this. Pardon us for getting all moony-eyed over this one, but we haven't seen a wine this good at such a low price anywhere else. - See ya at Trader Joes
2007.03.28 - colleen Listen live on fridays at 1:00 pm or anytime on demand, at www.goodlibations.net. - Good Libations, The wine Show is produced by the Wine and Food Radio Network.
2007.03.27 - Deborah10 I would recommend Gamay Beaujolais. Charles Shaw is a winery Trader Joe's markets, and has a flavorful Gamay Beaujolais for under $10 per bottle. Have fun, Deborah10
2007.03.11 - FumblingFoodie I would recommend the Concannon Sirah or the Rothschild Mouton Cadet Red Bordeaux. While Mouton Cadet is just a basic Bordeaux, it is very good and carries the cachet of being a French wine. Sprouts carries it at around $8.50/bottle
2007.03.02 - TracyB I am looking for a good bottle of red wine to celebrate a friends birthday with her, any suggestions? I'd like to keep the cost around $20
2007.02.27 - FumblingFoodie My current favorites are:
Sterling Cabernet Sauvignon
Wild Hog Russion River Valley Pinot Noir
Concannon Sirah
Mouton Cadet Bordeaux
Yup, I like reds too.
2007.02.05 - terisado Wine is fine all the time!
